My new short story “The Dancer” has just been published in Fantastic Schools: Familiars from Wisecraft Publishing. It’s set in a magic school, and it focuses on a witch who is seeking redemption for her past errors while also trying to stay one step ahead of a wolf familiar out for her blood.

I have an ongoing Progression Fantasy over on Royal Road. Deadmen Dungeoneers takes place in the same world as “Akumomo” from Glitched Grimm, but several hundred years later.

I’m currently averaging a chapter a week right now, so I should have another chapter up before your post goes live.

As part of the Folk Horror at the Library week, I’m giving an online talk on Perthshire folk horror on Wednesday 19th Nov. Drawn from my books The Guide to Mysterious Perthshire and Paranormal Perthshire, you can expect witchcraft, fairies, hauntings, bodysnatching, contemporary weirdness, and even a smidgeon of historical cannibalism. It’s on Zoom, so anyone can attend.

“The Caretakers,” an unusual ecological take on the post-apocalyptic trope, is available free online as part of Tractor Beam’s mini-issue on death and decomposition, BODIES. Expect human composting. And admire those beautiful illustrations.

“Last Woman” is a short story published in the fantastic anthology When Vampires Save the Night. Expect some Palaeolithic nastiness.

My “Skin and Bones” short story is in the Gauges and Ghouls anthology from Sarah Arnette’s Ps and Qs Publishing. Expect a most unusual mummy.

Urna Semper and I both have pieces in the holiday romance anthology, Midnight, Mischief, and Mistletoe, which published wide on November 3rd. We both wrote sci-fi romances in our respective universes—“Iphigenia” for Urna, “Starship Valkyrie” for me.

The little press we work for, Tender and Tempting Tales, is also coming to Substack! We’re working on shepherding material for it, and I hope some of you will join us if romance interests you or someone you know. You can give us an early follow if you’d like; there’s more coming soon!
