In mid-November, we open up submissions for Plasma Pulp!
Plasma Pulp!
Edited by LawDog
Ultronic supersonic tales of retro-future adventure! We’re looking for science fiction pulpy goodness that hearken back to Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon. Evil intergalactic warlords face off against raygun-slinging heroes! You can call it raypunk, if you like—we’re calling it Plasma Pulp!
This Streamline aluminum rocket ship model above was first used during the Fox Films feature Just Imagine (1930). Universal Pictures later acquired the life-sized model, as well as the miniatures, and used them as Zarkov's rocket ship for the Flash Gordon serials (1936, 1938 and 1940), starring Buster Crabbe, Jean Rogers and Priscilla Lawson.
Richard and Max Fleisher’s Superman cartoons are another great source for inspiration. No, we’re not saying we want superhero stories, but these animated adventures have a signature artistic style that lends itself to the Plasma Pulp aesthetic. Not to mention a rogues gallery of mad scientists wielding advanced technologies with which they alternately loot, destroy, or otherwise threaten society.
Rollicking two-fisted space adventure! Rockets, robots, and ray guns! Oh my!

"He'll save every one of us!"
I have no idea what I'm going to do for this one, but it sounds like way too much fun NOT to come up with something!
Great idea. I forgot what I was doing and watch the whole superman video. Those old cartoons are great.
