Video interview with John Van Stry
John talks about his background and his upcoming book, Misplaced
"You guys asked me to write something for you, and I'm like, 'wow, what do I write? What am I gonna do?'"
"I had a lot of thoughts, but I was like, 'you know, "Wolfhounds" the first series is coming to an end.' There's gonna be a second series. But it's like, this is a rich world. And there were thoughts for spin offs that were already kicking around in my head. So I said, 'You know what? I'm going to write a story about, you could say, like a misplaced prince, kind of a story about one of the people from the Morgan family, you know, the the imperial family, and what's happened to them, where they're at, and their whole thing and their whole journey going forward. And it was originally only gonna be one book, but then I got about halfway through it, it's like, no, it's gonna be a trilogy. I'm kind of—supposedly, I'm famous for doing these things to people—tell them just because I wrote one short story that turned into a five book series.
"So basically, that's what this is. This is a story it's two years later than the events of the Wolfhound series, which isn't finished yet. Book five will probably hit about—sorry—book six will probably hit about the time the first of this book comes out, and there will be more books in that series, but it's probably gonna be a spin off, a separate series. Haven't quite decided. So basically, that's how that story came about. I wanted to write something a little kind of space opera, though it's got a lot of sci fi in it, and that's that's how Wolfhounds came about."
Check out Serial 1 of Misplaced right here! It’s our first novel! Whoopee!
RAH is why John became an engineer, RAH had a lot to do with me joining the Marine 'Corp in '71.
Looking forward to both Wolfhounds 6 and Misplaced.
Zelazny!!!
Sorry. I get distracted.
Anyway, I'm buying these books. After reading *Wolfhounds* in my copious (/sarc) free time, I want more.
And I'm very glad to have these books coming. Thanks, Raconteur. Thanks, John. 🫡
