I’m on a Powers and Blaylock binge right now. Love those guys. Excited to read this new one. “The Stress of Her Regard” is amazing. Power’s “connect the dots” approach to historical fiction is some of the best writing advice I’ve ever been given.
ANOTHER great bit of advice from Mr. Powers: a great way to explain a system or process that you've created, without looking like you're doing a lot of maid-butler talk, is to have it broken, and one character tells another one how to fix it or how it SHOULD work. Improved my writing a bunch once I started doing that. Still have a long way to go, but it's a good tool to have in your Bag of Tricks.
