"The Devil's Brigade" is another entry in the subgenre of World War II hooliganism. I always liked it a little bit better than the dirty dozen, for some reason.
Another Robert Aspirin book might be M.Y.T.H. Inc. In Action. Two mafiaoso goons try to sabotage an army, and wind up accidentally revolutionizing military logistics, in the process.
And then there's always the Clint Eastwood movie Heartbreak Ridge.
CURSE YOU! I was resisting this call because I have to sleep sometime. I grew up on Hogan's Heros. Then you tossed in Kellys Heros. But still I resisted. Then you had to toss in Phules Company.
I get you now. I just mainly use the app. Tapping links on my phone also defaults to the app and I just see your post feed. So pinning 'open call' summary posts puts them to the top of the app feed for The Raconteur subscription. You're then easily covering both UX channels.
"...who is a Warhammer 40k Flashman..." I may have to read about Ciaphas Cain.
I just saw the first season of "Rogue Heroes," which is about the formation of the British SAS--excellent show! That group definitely had some ten-percenters, from their commander on down. We meet one of the main characters, who is a lieutenant (and Irish), sitting in a jail cell. He walks out of the cell and the jail after beating the brakes off three MPs. So much for that officer/gentleman thing😂. In his defense, the MPs were about to hang him in the cell and make the death look like a suicide. Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy from GoT) plays one of the founding members.

The Devil's Brigade is spot on!

Thanks! Didn't scroll down far enough. 😛 Maybe pin the latest anthology calls to your post feed?
All our open calls are on the navigation bar of our main page. There's a ton! https://raconteurpress.substack.com

Wow. This looks like another amazing anthology. I wish I could buy these on a subscription basis!
